Formerly home to a series of industrial warehouses dating back to the turn of the century, the creation of this new neighborhood on the northern-most tip of Brooklyn will act as a gateway to the Greenpoint waterfront and have a unique impact on the Brooklyn skyline.
Developed by Brookfield Properties, Block D of Greenpoint Landing will create two complementary towers, one 39 stories the other 29, in conjunction with a lower 7 story building. Combined, the three buildings will provide approximately 750 rental units (a mixture of luxury penthouses, market rate units and affordable housing) in addition to ground floor retail and more than an acre of new public open space. A bridge between the towers contains a pool and fitness center, while the naturally landscaped open spaces feature lawns and recreational areas.
Designed by OMA New York, in collaboration with Executive Architects Beyer Blinder Belle, HKA provided full code consulting services to the project. Construction on the site is due to commence in 2020.
